Pakistan has inaugurated its largest AI-powered data center and cloud platform in Islamabad, supporting high-performance computing, secure cloud services, and the country’s digital transformation agenda.
Pakistan Launches Largest Data Center and AI Cloud Platform

Pakistan has officially launched its largest AI data center and cloud platform, marking a significant milestone in the country’s digital transformation journey. On July 24, 2026, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif inaugurated Sky47, Pakistan’s first purpose-built, AI-ready Tier III/IV data center and sovereign cloud platform in Rawalpindi. The state-of-the-art 8.5-megawatt facility is designed to deliver high-performance computing, artificial intelligence (AI) workloads, cloud computing services, and secure data storage for both government and private sector organizations.
Developed by Sky47 Limited in collaboration with China’s ZTE Corporation, the new facility is expected to strengthen Pakistan’s digital infrastructure while reducing reliance on foreign cloud hosting providers. The project represents a major step toward achieving digital sovereignty by ensuring that critical national and enterprise data can be securely stored, processed, and managed within Pakistan.
The AI-ready Tier III/IV data center has been built to support a wide range of industries, including government institutions, banking, finance, healthcare, education, e-commerce, telecommunications, and technology startups. Equipped with advanced computing capabilities, the facility will enable organizations to process massive volumes of data, deploy AI-powered applications, and accelerate innovation across multiple sectors.
During the inauguration ceremony, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif described the project as an inspiring achievement that reflects Pakistan’s growing technological capabilities. He emphasized that the launch of Sky47 aligns with the government’s Digital Nation Pakistan vision, aimed at building a modern, knowledge-driven economy powered by innovation, artificial intelligence, and secure digital infrastructure.
The Prime Minister also announced that similar AI-ready data centers will soon be established in Karachi and Lahore, expanding Pakistan’s cloud infrastructure and enabling businesses and public institutions to access reliable, locally hosted digital services nationwide.
Pakistan’s digital economy continues to expand rapidly, with the e-commerce sector recording annual growth of approximately 25 to 30 percent. This growth has significantly increased demand for secure cloud computing, AI infrastructure, enterprise data storage, and high-performance computing services. The launch of Sky47 is expected to address these growing requirements while supporting the country’s evolving digital ecosystem.
The new facility offers enterprise-grade cloud hosting, disaster recovery services, cybersecurity solutions, scalable AI computing resources, and sovereign cloud capabilities. These services will help organizations improve operational efficiency, accelerate digital transformation, and support emerging technologies such as machine learning, big data analytics, automation, and generative AI.
Technology experts believe the launch of Pakistan’s largest AI data center will strengthen the country’s ICT sector, attract foreign investment, encourage AI adoption, and position Pakistan as a regional hub for cloud computing and digital innovation. It also reinforces the government’s commitment to developing indigenous digital infrastructure capable of supporting future technological growth.
With additional AI cloud facilities planned for Karachi and Lahore, Pakistan is taking another significant step toward building a resilient digital ecosystem that promotes innovation, strengthens data sovereignty, and drives sustainable economic development through advanced technology.
