In a major development for Pakistan’s digital financial landscape, Dubai Islamic Bank Pakistan has entered into a strategic partnership with fintech platform Pocket Money to improve financial access for freelancers, digital entrepreneurs, and remote professionals across the country.

The partnership was formalized at a signing ceremony held at the Dubai Islamic Bank Pakistan Head Office in Karachi, highlighting a shared commitment to strengthening Pakistan’s fast-growing digital economy through innovative and ethical banking solutions.

Pakistan currently has more than 2.37 million freelancers, contributing nearly USD 3 billion annually in export earnings from digital services. Despite this strong growth, many freelancers continue to face challenges in receiving international payments, accessing digital banking services, and managing cross-border transactions efficiently.

This partnership aims to address these challenges by combining the secure banking infrastructure of Dubai Islamic Bank Pakistan with the fintech innovation of Pocket Money, creating a more seamless financial ecosystem for the gig economy.

Speaking on the occasion, Muhammad Ali Gulfraz, CEO of Dubai Islamic Bank Pakistan, emphasized the importance of empowering freelancers as a key part of Pakistan’s services export sector. He noted that freelancers require fast, reliable, and globally compatible financial services to compete in the international digital marketplace. The partnership is designed to simplify payment processes and ensure quicker, more secure access to earnings.

Moe Jangda, Founder and CEO of Pocket Money, stated that the collaboration will open new opportunities for Pakistani freelancers by improving access to global payment systems that were previously difficult to navigate. He added that this initiative is just the beginning of broader efforts to support Pakistan’s digital talent ecosystem.

Under this partnership, users will benefit from a wide range of freelancer-focused financial solutions. These include faster international remittances, improved cross-border payment systems, and streamlined earnings integration from global platforms such as Upwork, Fiverr, Toptal, Amazon, eBay, Shopify, Stripe, and PayPal.

The initiative will also introduce multi-currency digital wallets, enabling smoother global transactions, along with financial literacy programs designed to help freelancers manage income more effectively and scale their businesses.

Through this collaboration, Dubai Islamic Bank Pakistan and Pocket Money aim to advance digital financial inclusion in Pakistan, creating a more connected, efficient, and globally competitive banking environment for the country’s growing freelance and digital workforce.
