Govt Plans Digital App to Allocate Petrol and Diesel Quotas Across Pakistan

Pakistan’s federal government is considering the launch of a digital mobile application to regulate the distribution of petrol and diesel through a quota-based system, as part of efforts to manage fuel consumption and improve subsidy targeting.

Under the proposed plan, consumers would be required to register on the app using their Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) along with their vehicle registration details. Based on individual usage patterns and predefined criteria, users would receive a fixed daily or monthly fuel quota, which they can utilize at fuel stations.

The initiative is being explored at a time when the country is facing rising fuel demand despite high petroleum prices. Authorities are looking for more efficient and transparent ways to ensure that fuel subsidies are directed toward deserving segments while minimizing misuse and unnecessary consumption.

Officials believe that a digital quota system could help streamline fuel distribution across the country by introducing better monitoring and data-driven decision-making. By tracking consumption trends in real time, the government would be able to adjust policies more effectively and respond to fluctuations in demand.
