Historic Step Toward Digital Pakistan: PMYP Launches Dedicated FinTech Division for Youth

A historic step toward Digital Pakistan as PMYP unveils its FinTech Division, advancing financial inclusion, transparency, and 100% cashless campuses nationwide.

PMYP FinTech Division launch ceremony at PTV Headquarters Islamabad promoting Digital and Cashless Pakistan.

In a historic move toward a Digital and Cashless Pakistan, the Prime Minister’s Youth Program launched a dedicated FinTech Division, marking a transformative step under the leadership of Shehbaz Sharif. The initiative represents more than a formal launch as it signals the beginning of a youth-centered digital empowerment movement rooted in inclusion, transparency, and opportunity.

Why This Matters for Students

Under PMYP, the newly established FinTech Division aims to revolutionize university ecosystems across Pakistan by promoting:

➡ Transition toward 100% cashless campuses
➡ Ensuring every student has a secure bank account
➡ Introducing transparent, digitized fee systems
➡ Enabling digital payments for hostel, transport, and campus services

This shift is expected to bring convenience, financial security, and institutional accountability to student life nationwide.

Financial Inclusion for Youth

The initiative strongly advances financial inclusion by:

✔ Connecting young people to the formal banking system
✔ Promoting financial literacy from early adulthood
✔ Encouraging responsible digital money management
✔ Building long-term economic participation

By embedding financial tools within university systems, the program aims to prepare students for real-world economic engagement.

With partnerships involving 40+ banks across Pakistan, this initiative strengthens the country’s digital financial ecosystem. The collaboration aligns institutional reform with private sector momentum. The launch complements the broader reforms under PMYP, including the Prime Minister’s Youth Business & Agriculture Loan Scheme (PMYB&ALS), whose Impact Report was also recently unveiled to highlight data-driven, merit-based youth financing expansion. The FinTech Division is expected to serve as a catalyst for modernizing student finance systems while nurturing a generation that is financially literate, digitally equipped, and economically empowered.
